Gothix Krunch 1.0 (NET Software)
Krunch is different from Echo/CodeBreaker/Dotanuki: it does not carry
you through a passage at all. Instead it attempts to configure a hacked
access code recognized by the WHOLE host, for you specifically, for the
rest of this connection.
While you are connected to a NET host, target the specific protected
gate whose access code you want to crack:
run Krunch <direction>
You can also run it by its local file number.
If it succeeds, you are granted a hacked "maint" identity and a numeric
access level for THIS host, THIS connection only -- Krunch does not move
you anywhere. That access level then works like any other authorized
access level: it may or may not be enough for boundaries elsewhere in
the same host, depending on what each one requires. A later successful
Krunch attempt against a different gate replaces the level you already
had, it does not stack.
Krunch's hacked access does not survive disconnecting or jacking out.
Who 3.4 reports you as the "maint" identity for as long as it lasts.
Krunch needs 4 units of free RAM while it runs and releases them when
the attempt finishes, win or lose. The stored copy stays on your deck
and can be run again.
